4 Month Check-up

Xavier had his 4 month doctor's visit today. He weighs a whopping 17.5 pounds (95th percentile) and is 26.5 inches long (>97th percentile). I am glad the most recent clothes I bought for him are 12 month, because at this rate he will be outgrowing his 9 months clothes soon!

The doctor felt he was doing well. To prove it, Xavier rolled over for the first time today! He has also recently started laughing more. Of course, he won't do this on cue, so no one has heard it but his Dad and I.

The amazing thing is that he is already is showing a preference for getting his needs met by different parents. I am the snuggle parent, and Justin is the fun one. All Justin has to do is tap Xavier's chest to get him giggling!

A "guest" blogger

Hi. I'm Xavier. Since my mommy has not been good about keeping this updated, I decided to take over.

I am now 3.5 months old. I am getting so big and enjoying every minute of it. I love looking at the world and smiling at everyone I see. Come and look at all the great things I have been doing.

In March, my Grandma Melinda, Aunt Kylee and Uncle Gunner came all the way from Kansas to visit. My mommy and daddy took all of us to the beach. It was cold and windy for Florida, but felt wonderful to them. It was the first time at the beach for both me and Aunt Kylee.

With all the wind, I didn't like opening my eyes, but I sure enjoyed the sun and sound of the waves.

Everyone helped to take care of me (this is Grandma Melinda feeding me a bottle). Aunt Kylee and Uncle Gunner even helped change my diapers. What love!


Next, my parents and Grandpa Glenn took me to Texas. I love flying. The feel and sound of the airplane engines put me right to sleep. Here is a picture of Daddy holding me. I'm all curled up and comfy. Nothing could be better!



In Texas we got to see a lot of Mommy's family. This is my Great Great Aunt Ruth. We became fast buddies. She loved talking to me and I loved listening.

This is my Great Grandfather. He is 95 years young, and he still has more hair than me!

Here is four generations of my family (me, Mommy, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa).

I know I am sticking out my tongue, but it was a trick I was very proud of and wanted everyone to see. Mommy didn't tell me till later that it might seem rude. Sorry!


Aunt Laia and Uncle Marco came for a surprise visit when my Grandma Adela turned 60. Mommy told me I couldn't have any of the cake this year, but maybe next year.

Between all the visits, I have been doing other fun things.

I discovered how to make big splashes in the bathtub.

I am learning how to hold my head up during tummy time. It is most fun with Daddy.

But I also like looking at my friend the lion.

The Easter Bunny was very generous this Easter!

So I gave him lots of kisses.

These are videos that have been done fairly recently (one is from this morning). It is amazing to watch the ones I posted earlier and see how much he has changed in the last several weeks. He's growing up so fast!

We measured him this weekend and found he is now 24.5 inches long! We also guess that he weighs at least 12 pounds. We'll find out for sure at the next doctor's visit.

In the course of a day, Xavier learns, thinks, feels, and does many things.

Baptism

As the cake suggests, Xavier was baptised at our church last Saturday night.

This is the baptismal gown he wore. It has been used by my family for three generations. It was handstiched by his great grandmother and the lace was handmade by his great, great grandmother. His grandmother, great aunt and uncle, and his aunt all wore it at their baptisms.

These are his proud parents with his new godparents. His godfather is an old friend of Justin's and currently a monk and priest at Conception Abbey in Missouri. His godmother is a new friend of ours, whom we met here in Thomasville.

As a double belssing, the ceremony was performed by his godfather.

This was the only part of the ceremony that he was calm and quiet for!

Happy Aunt and Uncle - Xavier seems to particularly like snuggling with his aunt.

In celebration of fat!

Xavier had a doctor's appointment today. He is now 10 pounds, 5 ounces. That means in the past 4 weeks, he has gained two pounds!

I love watching the fat rolls emerge on his body. See that big belly!

He's starting to out grow his newborn sized clothes.
